- About
Hey, I'm Heidi
„Unknown, fascinating places, great people – and the most delicious food I had ever eaten.“
A language enthusiast and nature lover from Germany with a deep fascination for the indigenous languages of Latin America. At 24, I spent six months in Mexico, where I first encountered indigenous languages — and it opened up an entirely new world.
Since then, I’ve been learning Nahuatl for several years and have dabbled in Aymara, Q’eqchi‘, and others. This platform is my way of sharing that journey and sparking the same curiosity in you.

Our Languages
Nahuatl
Mexico | Aztec Heritage
The language of the Aztec empire, still spoken by around 1.5 million people in Mexico. Words like „chocolate,“ „tomato,“ and „avocado“ all come from Nahuatl.
Quechua
Andes | Inca Heritage
The language of the Inca Empire — still the most widely spoken indigenous language in the Americas with over 8 million speakers across South America.
Aymara
Bolivia | Peru | Andes
Spoken around Lake Titicaca by nearly 2 million people. Aymara has a remarkable view of time — the past is visualised as ahead, the future behind.
Yucatec Maya
Mexico | Yucatan Peninsula
One of the most actively spoken Mayan languages with around 800,000 speakers. The Maya developed one of the world’s first fully written scripts.
Guaraní
Paraguay | official Language
The only indigenous language to be an official national language in South America. Paraguay is officially bilingual — Spanish and Guaraní side by side.
